how to organize…..

his consultations?

Physiotherapy treatments are covered by the basic insurance (LAMal) and are carried out on medical prescription only.

In order to be covered, the treatment must begin within 5 weeks of the issuance of the prescription and be completed within 3 months.

The rates are strictly in accordance with the rate structure provided by the insurance companies.

For home treatments, we cover domiciles in Eaux Vives (1207) and on medical prescription only.

for whom…

is it intended?

Any person suffering from a problem affecting the musculoskeletal system (pain, inflammation, muscle tension, loss of strength), neurological (paralysis, loss of balance), respiratory (congestion, dyspnea) and circulatory (related to poor blood and lymph circulation) can be treated in physiotherapy.

Whether it is an injury or pain related to work, a car accident, training or a loss of autonomy, whatever the origin, all our physiotherapists have the qualifications and expertise required to evaluate, diagnose and effectively treat your pathology.

The techniques are adapted according to the patient’s age, history and goals. The physiotherapists at Osteo Physio Genève work as a team with osteopaths and do not hesitate to refer to a doctor or other health professional if the patient’s condition requires it.

Why should you consult?

  • Post-operative rehabilitation of the locomotor system (prostheses, osteosynthesis, arthrodeses, etc.)
  • Rehabilitation of general statics disorders (postural education) and of the spine (rachialgia, sciatica, vertebral or discal compression, herniated discs, etc.)
  • Rehabilitation of respiratory disorders (bronchiolitis, bronchitis, asthma…)

Techniques

used by our teams….

  • Manual Therapy: is a system of assessment, diagnosis and treatment of selected neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders using specific skills, including mobilization and manipulation, in conjunction with education and exercise, to restore optimal motor skills and function and reduce pain.

  • Perineal rehabilitation: It consists in reeducating the muscles of the perineum. Also called the pelvic floor, it plays a very important role in continence, urination, defecation, sexuality and organ support. Rehabilitation involves awareness of this often neglected area as well as strengthening and control exercises. This is done via a probe that will allow you to visualize your progress. These fields of action are bladder weakness, prolapse, pre/post partum and sexual dysfunctions.
  • McKenzie method: also called diagnosis and mechanical therapy, is a method for rehabilitating the musculoskeletal system. It was created by Robin McKenzie, a New Zealand physiotherapist, in the late 1950s. The McKenzie method allows the modification of the postures adopted by the patients and is based on easy exercises that the patient reproduces at home.

  • FOFT (Function Oriented Fascial Therapy): It is a manual therapeutic technique for massage and treatment of fascia muscles and connective tissue. What are fascias? They are more or less elastic membranes, capable of contracting and influencing muscle and joint dynamics, etc. Thanks to their elasticity and tonicity, the fascias absorb and distribute in a harmonious way the physical and psychological shocks to which we are continuously subjected. By applying light pressure and deep tissue stretching, we can relieve the body.

  • PNF (Neuromuscular Proprioceptive Facilitation): This is a physiotherapeutic treatment concept aimed at learning dynamic activities and movements after an accident or during an illness. PNF is an approach that aims to improve the coordination between the nervous and muscular systems. based on a manual resistance technique that simulates basic movement patterns, such as swimming, throwing, running or climbing. The treatment techniques used in the PNF simultaneously associate the movement in the 3 spatial dimensions. P = proprioceptive: by stimulation of the proprio and exteroceptors of the body. N = neuromuscular: of the neurological and musculoskeletal system of the body. F = means facilitation (to make easier). PNF is commonly used to treat a wide range of conditions in both the neurological and musculoskeletal fields.
  • Kinesio Taping: Created by Dr. Kenzo Kase, Kinesio Taping® is a different way of approaching muscular, tendon, ligament and circulatory disorders. Classical strapping creates joint stabilisation by limiting amplitude, but exerts pressure on the lesion area, which leads to a reduction in subcutaneous circulation. Kinesio Taping® allows freedom of movement and works like a pump to stimulate lymphatic circulation. It is an ideal method to stabilize the effects acquired through other approaches such as manual therapy, PNF, osteopathy etc.
  • Respiratory physiotherapy: Training organized and conducted by specialists (doctors and physiotherapists) of the Ligue Pulmonaire Neuchâteloise, it is dedicated to patients suffering from diseases of the respiratory system. It offers not only specific techniques to increase the patient’s breathing capacity but also coaching to help the patient overcome the difficulties associated with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD or asthma.

Orthopaedic and Traumatological Rehabilitation

is addressed to patients suffering from locomotive system affections (joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, etc.).

It consists of improving the patient’s motor skills and autonomy as well as reducing symptoms such as pain, balance and stability problems, inflammation and loss of muscle strength.

It is dedicated to patients who have undergone surgery as well as to people suffering from congenital or acquired orthopaedic diseases, related to bad postures, repeated movements, sedentary lifestyle etc.

is beneficial in case of ….

surgery, joint, ligament, muscle and tendon disorders

Perineal and Pelvic Rehabilitation

consist in strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. Strong perineal muscles improve overall lumbar, abdominal and pelvic health, help prevent urine leakage and prevent future problems.

It also aims to increase the elasticity of the tissues and the ability to contract and relax the pelvic floor muscles.

This treatment is given by a physiotherapist with advanced training in perineal rehabilitation and sexology.

is beneficial in case of ….

urination emergencies, uncomfortable sensations related to organ descent, pelvic pain, pain during intimate relations, etc…

Neurological Physiotherapy

is responsible for the re-education andrehabilitation of patients with acute or chronic neurological conditions such as stroke, head trauma, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, polyneuropathy.

The methods used are essentially passive and active mobilizations, postures and proprioceptive techniques. These methods must be adapted to the neurological lesions and to the patient’s disabilities.

is beneficial in case of ….

Stroke, Parkison, head trauma, sclerosis, etc..

Lymphatic Drainage

Used for medical or aesthetic purposes, manual lymphatic drainage is a massage that aims to stimulate the circulation of lymph.

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique designed to stimulate lymph circulation and detoxify the body, while strengthening the immune system. It is performed with the fingers and the palms of the hands on the whole body, following the direction of the lymphatic circulation and varying the pressure.

is beneficial because….

Stimulates the immune system

Respiratory Physiotherapy

It aims to increase respiratory capacity and improve the level of autonomy and quality of life of people with chronic lung diseases such as COPD, asthma, respiratory allergies or pneumopathy.

The treatment is based on physical and respiratory exercises to increase breathing volumes and promote de-cluttering, as well as on training and behavioral therapy of the patient.

is beneficial in case of ….

asthma, allergies, COPD, lung disease
