Osteopathy

Is a gentle and holistic manual therapy which detects and treat mobility restrictions that can cause symptoms.

Any loss of mobility of joints, muscles, ligaments, visceral tissue or any other structure, may lead to pain and discomfort.

The objective of this type of treatment is to restore the harmony of movement of all the cells of the human body in its entirety, based on the anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and philosophy of osteopathy (cf. Dr Andrew Still)

how does…..

The consultation work?

The purpose of a consultation, is to find the pattern of a disfunction that has appeared in a specific area of the body. Following our therapists evaluation, we relieve the patient by applying a treatment plan in harmony with the global state, and the demand of the patient

1. A discussion about the patient’s medical background to determine the situation.

2. Physical assessment and treatment adapted to the patient’s situation.

3. Advice and recommendations on the treatment’s evolution are discussed, as well as their frequency.

to whom ….

is it for?

Within a preventive combined with a curative approach, everyone can benefit from osteopathy!

The techniques are adapted according to the age and history of the patient. Thus, the consultation of a baby will be quite different from that of an athlete.

Osteopaths at Osteo Physio Genève work hand in hand with the Physiotherapists, and refers to doctors or other health professionals when needed if the patient’s condition requires it.

Why should you consult?

Osteopaths at Osteo Physio Genève are effective and work on multiple symptoms. Typical cases of consultation are:

  • Persistent fatigue
  • Physical or psychological traumatism
  • Pregnancy, childbirth

Anything that may have put an abnormal strain on the body will cause it to adapt itselfs. Accumulation of constraints will lead to a dysfunction that can be felt as pain, or other various symptoms. It’s as if all the cogs in the body are running slower until they jam completely.

Pediatric Osteopathy

At birth, the baby’s body undergoes strong constraints.

The skull of the newborn is under strong pressure, which helps the body to activate properly and function independently.

It is often unavoidable that the newborn baby encounters problems with sleeping, agitation, regurgitation, difficulty in suckling, colic, plagiocephaly, torticollis, etc.

Pediatric Osteopathy

acts and is beneficial on ….

in case of otitis, rhinitis, bronchiolitis, strabismus, dentition, sleep disorders. It can help prevent malformations or compensations.

In osteopathy, we can help, relieve. Advice and information are given to parents so that they can feel more confident when their newborn is expressing himself.

The frequency of consultations will be determined according to the child’s needs.

There is no need to bring your child to the osteopath every week as the body needs time to react, grow and adapt after a session.

Gyneco-obstetrical osteopathy

During pregnancy, a woman’s body prepares for childbirth for nine months. These changes take place in the abdomen (digestive system and transit), pelvis, lower back, breasts, hormonal system, among others.

Gyneco-obstetrical osteopathy

acts and is beneficial on ….

Symptoms of gastric reflux, sciatica, back pain, transit disturbance, mood swings or emotionality.

An osteopathic intervention can prevent or address the various symptoms common in pregnant women.

During delivery, the mother’s body undergoes great stress. This sometimes affects the mobility of the pelvic bones, sacrum and coccyx as well as soft tissues such as ligaments, muscles and skin.

A post-partum check-up can be advised so that an effective and long-lasting re-education can be set up for the mother’s perineum.
